Gold Creation

Sadar Police Station Road is always a mess of people, carts, and noise. Pahar Ganj never really seems to sleep, no matter the time. Our spot is at 9831/7. Gold Creation isn't one of those huge jewelry stores you see in the fancy malls. It is more of a small workshop. We have these little benches and very bright lamps so we can see what we are doing. You can hear the sound of metal tapping all day long. It is a bit cramped inside with all the tools. We have to keep the door locked for safety since we work with some precious materials. My uncle started this shop forty years ago, and I took over when his eyes got too tired for the work. We don't do any big advertisements. Most of our work comes from people who have known our family for a long time. They bring in things that need fixing or they want something specific made for a wedding. Pahar Ganj is a tough place, but it's our home. The police station is right there, so it feels a little safer than other streets. We have a tiny safe in the back that is probably older than I am. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, so we have to wipe the cases down constantly. It is hard work on the eyes, but we like the quiet rhythm of it.
