Geeta General Store

Geeta General Store is found in Paharganj at 8489 Arya Nagar. This part of Delhi never really sleeps. Because we are in Paharganj, we get a mix of locals who have lived here for decades and travelers from all over the world. Our shop at 8489 Arya Nagar is on a street that stays busy until late at night. We have all sorts of things on our shelves, from toothpaste to bottled water and biscuits. The shop is narrow but deep. We have boxes stacked up towards the ceiling. It’s a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together. We use a lot of tube lights to keep it bright. I usually sit at the front on a plastic chair. The neighborhood is loud and there’s always someone calling out or a motorbike zooming past. We have been here a long time and the shop feels like a second home. The floor is made of old tiles that are chipped at the corners. We don't mind the chaos of Paharganj. It’s what keeps the business going. People stop by for a quick chat while they buy their daily needs. We know the milkman and the newspaper guy well. It’s just a regular general store doing its thing every day. We don't have any big promises, we just keep the shelves stocked and the door open. There is always a lot of dust from the street.
