Dhobhi Mart

Dhobhi Mart is located at No. 2524 on the ground floor. We are right on Hudson Lane in Kingsway Camp. If you find Laxmi Dairy, you are pretty much there since we are right near it. This part of Delhi is always full of students from the university, so it is a very energetic place to be. We are always busy with laundry. The shop smells like soap and steam all the time. We have a row of washing machines that are usually all running at once. It gets quite loud and the floor is often a bit damp. We have a small counter at the front where we take in the bags of clothes. We use a lot of blue plastic crates to keep everyone's stuff separate so nothing gets lost. It’s a lot of manual work, folding and ironing all day. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait around, which can be frustrating when the pile of clothes is high. We don't have a fancy website or anything. We just have a ledger where we write down the names and the number of items. It’s a bit old-fashioned but it works for us. We know the regulars by their faces and sometimes by the kind of shirts they wear. It is just a simple, hardworking shop in a very busy neighborhood. We stay open late most nights to finish everything we have promised.
