Dhamiza Clinic

If you know the area near New Delhi Station, you know how hectic it gets. Our clinic is at 4055 in Pahar Ganj, right in one of those inner galis. It’s a bit of a maze back here, to be honest. You have to navigate through the carts, the tourists with their big backpacks, and the local vendors yelling out their prices. Once you find the right turn, it’s a lot quieter. The clinic is just a basic setup. We’ve been here in this lane for a long time. The building is old, like most things in Pahar Ganj, but it stays cool inside even when the sun is beating down on the main road. We see a lot of different people. Some are just passing through because of the train station, and others have lived in these galis their whole lives. It’s not a big, shiny hospital. It’s just a room with some benches and a desk where we do our work. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, and we just wait it out with the windows open. Life in this part of Delhi is fast, but inside the clinic, we try to slow things down. We listen to what people have to say and do our best with what we have. It’s a tough neighborhood to work in sometimes, but it’s home for us. We just keep the doors open and see what the day brings, one patient at a time.
