Chakhul Foundation

We set up shop here at Mansa Ram Park because we saw a lot of things that needed fixing in the neighborhood. It's on the third floor of the A 66 building, so there are a few stairs to climb if you want to see us. My cousin and I started talking about this a few years back over tea and finally just did it. There isn't a huge team here, just a few of us trying to help out where we can. Uttam Nagar is a busy place, and it gets loud outside, but inside we just focus on the work. Sometimes the printer jams or we run out of supplies, but we keep going. People stop by quite a bit asking for directions or just checking what we do. It’s not a fancy office at all. We have some old desks and a lot of paperwork. Dealing with local issues takes a lot of time and patience. We don't have a big fancy website or anything like that. It is just about getting things done day by day. If someone needs something, they usually just walk in or call us. We’ve been in Delhi a long time and know how hard it can be for families around here. We just try to be useful. The floor gets a bit dusty with all the traffic outside but we sweep it when we can. We usually have the radio playing low in the background while we sort through the mail. It's a simple life. We don't ask for much, just a chance to help out.
