Bedco Batteries

Running a battery shop in Karol Bagh means dealing with a lot of heavy stuff and a lot of noise. Our place at 24/1460 is right in the middle of all the chaos. Most of the day is spent moving lead-acid batteries around and checking voltages for people who bring in their old cars or inverters. The floor is concrete and has some stains from over the years, but it works for us. We keep a stock of different sizes stacked along the walls. Karol Bagh is always crowded, so getting deliveries in and out can be a real headache sometimes. I usually have tea around four o'clock while looking at the ledger. It is not a glamorous job, your hands get dirty and the smell of acid is always there in the background. My nephew helps me out with the lifting because my back isn't what it used to be. We have regular customers who have been coming to this spot for ten years or more. They know we don't talk much, just get the job done. If a battery is dead, it's dead, and we tell them that straight. There is no point in sugarcoating it. The street outside is always dug up or blocked by some rickshaw, but we manage. It’s just how things are in this part of town. We keep the shutters up until late in the evening. The sound of horns and shouting is just something we got used to long ago. It’s a bit gritty, but it is our work and it keeps us going.
