Galadahara Farmer Producer Company is located in the Canning area, specifically at Niranjanamtala Bhadri. Nityananda Haldar is the main contact person here and he’s been a part of this community for a long time. Canning is a busy place, and being near the water and the fields means there is always something to do. We are just a bunch of local farmers who felt like we needed to work as one group. We don't have a big corporate office with air conditioning. We mostly meet outside or in a small shed where we keep our tools and papers. The air here smells like the earth and sometimes the salt from the nearby areas. We talk about things like which fertilizer is working and where we can sell our vegetables this week. It is a practical business. We don't have time for fluff. Our days are filled with the sounds of the village and the work of our hands. We look out for each other because that’s how things get done in a place like this. If someone’s crop is failing, we try to see what went wrong. It is a very hands-on way of living. We are proud of where we come from and the fact that we are still here, working the same land as our fathers did, but now we have our own company to back us up and keep things moving.
