Basu & Girish Earthmovers

Basu and Girish Earthmovers is run from House 923/198 in Socorro. We are located in Porvorim, right near the Socorro Panchayat office in Bardez. It is basically a house with enough space to park our machinery and keep the logs. We have been doing earthmoving work around here for a while. Mostly we use the backhoes and excavators for digging foundations or clearing plots of land when someone wants to build a new house. The area near the Panchayat is usually quiet until we start up the engines in the morning. It is greasy work and the machines need a lot of looking after. We spend a lot of time fixing parts or cleaning off the red Goa mud after a job. Basu handles most of the scheduling while Girish is often out at the sites. We don't have a big corporate office or fancy reception area. It is just us and a few operators who know how to handle the heavy stuff. Sometimes the weather makes it impossible to dig, especially when the monsoon hits hard. Then we just sit on the porch and wait for the rain to stop. We know most of the people in the neighborhood and they just stop by the house if they need something moved or dug up. It is a straightforward business with plenty of hard work involved. We just take one job at a time and try to keep our machines in good working order.
