Mangalay Eye Hospital

Mangalay Eye Hospital is actually located within the Rao General Hospital premises over in Gware, Khambhat. It is a specific section of the hospital where we deal with everything related to eyes. The building is quite old and has that typical hospital smell of disinfectant. We have a small corner where we set up our testing equipment and chairs for the patients. It’s not a fancy private eye center with carpets and air conditioning in every room. It’s a functional space. We see a lot of elderly people who come in because they can't see as well as they used to. The hallways are often crowded with people waiting for different departments. We just focus on our part. We spend our days looking through lenses and checking charts. The lighting in our section is kept a bit dim because it's better for the eye exams. We don't have a big marketing budget or glossy signs. People find us because they are already coming to Rao General Hospital or someone told them we were here. Our staff is local and we talk to everyone in a plain way. We don't make big promises. We just do the exams and help people get the right glasses or treatment. It’s a lot of the same thing every day, but it’s the work that needs doing here in Khambhat. We try to be as helpful as we can.
