Being situated near the railway station means Geeta Medical sees a lot of different people coming and going. You can hear the whistles and the announcement speakers from the shop throughout the day, which becomes a kind of background noise you eventually stop noticing. We’ve been here for a while, serving the people who live nearby and the occasional person who’s just passing through on their way to a train. The shop isn't very large, so we have to be careful about how we stack the boxes. I spend a lot of time on my feet, reaching for things on the top shelves or digging through drawers for a specific bottle. It’s a lot of work keeping everything in order, especially when the station gets crowded and more people start popping in. We keep a variety of things, from basic painkillers to stuff for stomach aches, because that’s what folks usually need when they’re traveling or coming home from work. It’s not always easy keeping up with the demand, and sometimes the wholesaler doesn't bring exactly what I ordered, but we make it work. The floors need a good scrub pretty often because of all the foot traffic from the station area. My cousin helps out when things get really hectic in the evenings. It’s just a normal pharmacy near the railway station, doing what we can to stay busy and helpful to anyone who walks in to the shop looking for something.
