Our business is K.D.Jain Food & Beverages Privatelimited. We are located in South Krishnapur, which is over in Silchar. If you look at the land records, we are on Patta-3 and Dag-47. It’s a bit out of the main town, which is good because we have more space for the food production. We deal with various items that people eat and drink every day. Silchar is a humid place, so keeping things fresh is always our biggest worry. We have some coolers and storage areas that we have to check all the time. The building isn't much to look at, just a practical space where we store our goods and do the packaging. We don’t have a lot of staff, just a few local guys who know the routine. Most of our orders come from small shops in the Cachar district. We don't do any big commercials or radio ads. We just talk to the shopkeepers and they tell us what they need for the week. Sometimes the supply chain gets messed up because of the floods we get around here. When that happens, everything stops for a few days. We just wait it out and start again once the water goes down. It’s a simple life running a food business in Silchar. We aren't trying to change the world, we just want to provide good products to our neighbors.
