Choudhury Mart

If you go down to Nilambazar Village, you will find Choudhury Mart sitting right near the police station. It is a very handy spot because everyone in the South Karimganj area knows exactly where the station is. We have been in this part of the district for a good few years now. The mart is where we keep all the daily essentials that people need. It is a family business through and through. My uncle is usually the one behind the counter and I handle all the stocking and the local deliveries. We get a lot of foot traffic from people who live right in the village. It is a tight-knit place, so word travels fast if we have something new or interesting in stock. The shop is not very large, but we try to pack a lot of items into the space we have available. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped inside, but it works for us and the customers do not seem to mind. We do not have any big goals of becoming a huge chain. We just want to keep the doors open and the local people happy with what we have. The weather here can be a bit tough, especially when the monsoon starts, but we stay open regardless of the rain. We see the same kids growing up and coming in for their snacks. It is a nice way to live and work.
