Durga Enterprise

If you find yourself on Melin Peth in Haveri, you’ll probably see our door at number 44. Durga Enterprise is right in the middle of everything. It’s a tight street and parking is always a headache, but we’ve gotten used to it. The shop is narrow and goes back a long way. We keep most of the stock stacked high up toward the ceiling. It’s a bit of a climb on the ladder when someone needs something from the top shelf. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors don't even say hello anymore, they just nod. We open up around nine and stay until the lights on the street come on. Most days are pretty much the same. We count things, move things around, and write things down in the big books. The ceiling fan has a bit of a wobble that makes a clicking sound, but we don't even hear it after the first hour. It’s a local operation. We don’t have a marketing department or fancy uniforms. Usually, someone is wearing a sweater because the back of the building stays cold even in summer. We drink a lot of coffee from the stall across the road. It’s just us trying to keep things moving and making sure we don't run out of supplies. It’s a simple way to make a living and we’re glad to be in this part of town despite the noise from the traffic.
