Our unit is located in Indira Colony, specifically at Makan No.-B/43 in Ward 41. Burhanpur is known for its fabric work, and we are just one part of that big network here. The building is tucked away in the colony, so it’s a bit quieter than being right on the main road, but there’s still plenty of movement. We have a couple of rooms filled with rolls of cloth and the smell of raw cotton is always in the air. The work is mostly manual, checking the quality of the weaves and making sure everything is packed correctly for the trucks. We don’t use a lot of fancy technology for the office side of things. It’s mostly just ledgers and some basic computer work to keep track of what’s coming in from the looms. People in the neighborhood often walk past and wave while we are loading up the carts. It feels like a very local way of doing business. On rainy days, the lane gets a bit muddy, which makes moving the heavy fabric rolls a bit of a challenge, but we manage. We’ve got a small crew of workers who know exactly what needs to be done without being told. There isn’t much management talk here. We just show up, do the sorting and the packing, and head home when the job is finished. It’s a steady rhythm that we’ve kept up for a long time now and we plan to stay right here.
