Kakde Bricks

Kakde Bricks is over in Village Bambhada, specifically in Ward No- 6. We are located right near the Hanuman Mandir, so it’s easy for people to find us when they come through the village. We’ve been part of the Burhanpur district for a long time. The work here is pretty straightforward. We spend our days digging, mixing, and setting out the bricks to dry in the sun. It’s hard on the hands and the back, but we’re used to it. My nephews help out during the busy season. We don't have any fancy office or a big sign. Most people just see the stacks of bricks from the road and pull in. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate and we lose a few days to the rain. That’s just the risk you take in this business. We talk to the neighbors and the local builders who need materials for their projects. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the sound of the tractor now and then. We aren't trying to expand into some big corporation. We just want to keep the yard running and make sure the bricks are solid. We have our tea under the shade when it gets too hot. It’s honest work and it feels good to see the houses in the village that were built with our bricks. Every stack represents a lot of hours.
