Over at Baro Maa Kali Rice Mill(P) Ltd., we keep things pretty straightforward. Our mill is in Village Madhyamgram, which is in the Manteshwar Block of Burdwan district. We are right near the Madhyamgram Post Office, so we are easy to find if you are in the village. This part of Bengal is known for its rice, so there is always work to be done. We have a lot of machinery that requires constant attention, and the yard is usually full of activity. It is a family-run kind of vibe here, even if we are a private limited company on paper. We don't go in for big speeches or polished presentations. Most of our day is spent on the floor, checking the quality of the grain and making sure the loading is happening on time. The dust from the rice can be a lot, and the noise is constant when the mill is running, but we are used to it. It’s the way life has been for us for a long time. People from around the Manteshwar block know us and stop by to talk business or just to see how things are going. We aren't looking to change the world; we just want to run a decent mill and provide for our families. It’s honest work, even if it’s loud and dusty most of the time.
