Satish Kirana Store

Satish Kirana Store is located in Digod, right on the road that connects Tathed and Kota. It is a convenient spot for people living in the village and also for those who are just passing through on their way to the city. We have a front porch where we keep some of the larger sacks of potatoes and onions. Inside, the shop is packed with everything from matchboxes to big containers of cooking oil. I usually start my day before the sun is fully up, getting things ready and cleaning the jars. Digod is a place where agriculture is important, so we often talk with farmers about the crops while they wait for their orders to be packed. We use a simple weighing scale and write down the bills on small scraps of paper. It is a very hands-on job, and my clothes usually have a bit of flour dust on them by the end of the day. The building is simple, with cool stone floors that feel good in the summer heat. We don't do any big advertising; people know we are here because we've always been here. Sometimes the stock runs low if the transport from Kota is delayed, but we usually have enough to get by. It is just a regular life running a shop on the side of a busy road, making sure our neighbors have their daily salt and sugar whenever they happen to stop by.
