Satvik Khadi Foundation

Our foundation, Satvik Khadi Foundation, is situated in Wadoda village within the Malkapur taluka of Buldhana. It is a rural area and we are located at Survey Number 938. Khadi is something we care about deeply because it’s part of our heritage and it provides work for people who really need it. Working in a village means things move a bit differently than they do in a city office. We deal with weavers and local folks who understand the value of handmade things. The office isn't much to look at, just a sturdy building where we keep our records and meet with the villagers. Buldhana can be a tough place to live sometimes, but the community is strong. We don't have a marketing team to write fancy stories about us. The quality of the fabric and the lives of the people we work with tell the story well enough. We spend a lot of our time out in the village rather than sitting behind a desk. It’s a lot of walking and talking to people in their homes. We keep our operations simple and overhead low so that everything goes back into the work. It’s not a glamorous job, and sometimes we wonder if we are making a dent, but then you see a finished piece of cloth and it all feels worth it.
