Ramkrishna Clinic

At Ramkrishna Clinic in Asalgaon, things move at a bit of a slower pace than in the big cities. We are located right here in the Jalgaon Jamod area. It’s a small place, and most of the people who walk in are folks we see at the market or around the village every day. We open up the doors early in the morning, usually just as the sun is coming up and the birds are starting to get loud. The clinic is basically just two rooms. One is for waiting and the other is where we do the actual work. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. Sometimes they squeak, but we’ve gotten used to the sound. People come to us when they aren't feeling well or need some medicine for a fever. We know their families and how many kids they have, which makes the work feel a bit more personal. There isn't any fancy computer system here; we write everything down in big ledgers with blue pens. When it rains, you can hear it hitting the roof really loud, which makes it hard to talk sometimes. But we just wait it out. It’s a plain, honest place where we try to help our neighbors. We stay open until the last patient goes home, and then we walk back to our own houses just down the road.
