Bhagwanbaba Clinic

Down on Sambhaji Chawk Road in Sindkhed Raja, you’ll find our small place, Bhagwanbaba Clinic. It’s not a huge hospital, just a local clinic where we handle the basic stuff that comes up in town. The building is right there on the road, so it’s easy for people to stop by when they aren’t feeling well. We have a small front room with a few wooden chairs and a table where the newspaper usually sits. The walls are a simple shade of blue that’s faded a bit over the years. My desk is near the window so I can see who is coming and going on Sambhaji Chawk Road. Sindkhed Raja is a place where people generally know each other, so we often spend a few minutes chatting about the weather or the local crops before getting down to the medical business. The medicine cabinets are kept locked and the floor is swept every few hours to keep the dust down. We don’t have a big computer system, we mostly use paper ledgers and pens to keep track of who we’ve seen. It’s a bit old-fashioned but it works well enough for us. When the power goes out, which happens sometimes in this area, we just open the windows wide and keep going with the natural light. It’s a simple life here at the clinic, just serving the people who live nearby and making sure they have a place to go.
