Barai Clinic

If you take a walk down Athwadi Bazar Road in Shegaon, you will eventually run into Barai Clinic. It’s right there in the middle of all the market shops and the daily rush. We are very used to the sound of the bazaar outside our front door. People often just pop in while they are out doing their regular shopping for the day. It is a very local kind of place. We don't have a massive sign or any flashing lights, just a simple board so people know they’ve found the right spot. The clinic itself is pretty basic. We have a couple of rooms and a small area for people to sit and wait their turn. On market days, it gets especially full in here. Shegaon is a lively town and Athwadi Bazar Road is one of those streets that always has something happening. We see many folks from the small villages nearby who come into the main town for their errands. We mostly help with routine health issues, like common colds or checking someone's blood pressure. We know a lot of our regulars by their first names. We still use paper notebooks for our records because it’s just easier for us to handle than a computer. Sometimes the electricity goes out during the day, but we just keep things moving as best as we can. It’s not a polished medical center. It’s just a practical clinic for the local community. We like being part of the noise and life on Athwadi Bazar Road. It makes the day feel full.
