Adarshnagar Sardhana is a pretty quiet neighborhood, which makes it a good place for our garment work. We have several sewing machines set up in the main room of the shop. Usually, there is a big pile of fabric sitting in the corner waiting for someone to cut it. We mostly make basic clothes that people need for their everyday lives. It is not high fashion, just sturdy shirts and trousers that last a while. Sometimes the thread snaps or a machine gets jammed, and we have to spend time fixing it ourselves. That is just part of the daily routine here. We know most of the people who live nearby and stop in. We do not have a big window display to show off our work. Mostly, people just hear the sound of the needles and know we are open. In the summer months, the fan on the ceiling barely moves the hot air around. We just drink plenty of water and keep working through the day. When we get a large order, the whole place feels very small. We have to stack the finished boxes near the door just so we have space to walk around. It is a small operation run by local people. My hands are usually covered in tiny bits of thread by the time I go home. We just keep the machines running and handle whatever comes our way.
