Universal Trading Co.

Universal Trading Co. is right here at C-3 in the Mic Market. It’s a small corner of the market where we do our trading business. The market is always loud and full of people, which we’ve grown to enjoy. Our shop is packed with samples and records from years of work. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is. We spend a lot of time talking to vendors and customers who stop by. Most of our trading involves a lot of back-and-forth on prices and delivery dates. It’s an old-school way of doing things, but it works for us. We don't have a website that does the selling for us. We do it ourselves, person to person. Sometimes the market gets so crowded it's hard to get a truck near our door, but we manage. We’ve been in this same spot for a long time. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking sound that we don't even hear anymore. We aren't a big chain or a corporate entity. We’re just a local business trying to make things work in a competitive market. We value the relationships we’ve built over the years. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but we’re used to it by now. We just take each day as it comes and try to do right by the people we work with. That's the way it is here.
