You can find Jai Jagdambay Ceramics out on Railway Road in Khurja. Since we are in Khurja, ceramics are a big part of everything around here. Our place isn't anything special to look at from the outside, just a typical workspace filled with clay and finished pieces. We spend our days dealing with the kilns and making sure the temperature is just right. It’s messy work. There is usually dust on everything, including us. Railway Road is a busy stretch, so we get a lot of trucks passing by all day. We’ve been here for a long time, watching the way the pottery business has changed. We do things the way we’ve always done them, without much fuss. Some days the firing goes perfectly, and other days we have a few pieces that don't make it. That's just the nature of working with clay. We don't have a big sales team; it’s mostly just family and a couple of workers who know the routine. We have stacks of plates and jars waiting to be moved out. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting crates and moving heavy loads. The winters are better because the heat from the kilns feels good, but the summers are tough. We just keep going regardless of the weather. It’s what we know how to do, and being on Railway Road makes it easy for transport.
