We are based at the OPV plant in Village Chola. It’s a bit of a journey to get here from the main town, as the village is quite secluded. Bharat Immunologicals Biologicals Corporation Ltd. is the full name on the gate, but most of us just call it the plant. The site is quite large with several separate buildings and a lot of specialized equipment. Because we work with biological products, there are a lot of security measures and strict rules we have to follow every day. It’s not like a regular business where you can just wander in. The surroundings are very rural, with fields all around the perimeter. Many of the people working here come from Chola or the nearby villages. We spend our shifts in the production areas or looking after the machinery. It’s a very practical environment, and we don't have any of the luxuries you might find in a city office. The canteen is the main social hub where we all gather for lunch and a bit of talk. The buildings are a few decades old now, so they have that weathered look about them. We rely on the local transport to get to work, which can be a bit unreliable at times. Our daily routine is governed by the production schedule and the needs of the facility. It’s steady, serious work that takes place far away from the noise and rush of the big cities. We just focus on our specific roles.
