Running this hardware store in Silhari village keeps us on our toes from early morning until the sun goes down. Being near the Delhi Highway means we get a lot of trucks passing by, and sometimes they stop to ask for directions or buy something quick they forgot. It’s a dusty spot, honestly. Between the highway traffic and the bags of cement we move, there’s always a bit of a mess to sweep up. We’ve got all sorts of things crammed onto the shelves, from basic nails and hammers to plumbing pipes and heavy building materials stacked outside. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we know where everything is if you ask. The locals from around Sahaswan come in mostly for their home repairs. It gets really hot in the summer, and we usually sit near the front to catch whatever breeze comes through the door. Sometimes the neighbors stop by just to chat for a bit while we’re waiting for a delivery truck. We handle the heavy lifting ourselves most of the time, so it’s tiring work but it feels good at the end of the day. There’s a lot of competition around Budaun, but we just focus on what’s in front of us. It’s just a regular shop serving the village, nothing more and nothing less than that. We don't have any big signs, just the stuff we sell and the people we know. It works for us and the community here.
