Swapnashikha Micro Foundation

Down here in the village of Salakati, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. The Swapnashikha Micro Foundation is just a small group of us working out of a simple building right in the heart of the village. We don’t have any fancy titles or a polished office. Most of the time, we are out in the fields or sitting on a bench talking to the local women and farmers. We call it a micro foundation because we deal with the small things that actually matter to people here. Maybe it’s a tiny bit of money to start a kitchen garden or help with some tools for a small shop. We know everyone in Salakati by name, so our work is very personal. If someone is having a hard time, we usually hear about it over tea before they even come to see us officially. The paperwork is mostly done by hand because we don't always have a reliable computer or power. It’s a bit of a struggle sometimes, but we prefer it this way. It keeps us close to the ground. We aren't looking to grow into a giant organization. We just want to make sure that the people in our village have a place to turn to when they need a little bit of support. It’s honest, simple work, and we are proud to be part of Salakati life.
