Shree Amma Papad Udyog

At Shree Amma Papad Udyog, things stay pretty busy throughout the week. We are located in the Sahu Market area of Chas village. If you walk past the Ambey Mandir near the main road, you can usually smell the spices we are mixing. Making papads is a lot of work that people don't always see. It starts early with grinding the lentils and getting the dough just right. We have a few ladies from around the village who come in to help with the rolling and drying. The weather matters a lot to us because we need the sun to get the papads dry and crispy before they get packed up. Our space in the market isn't very large, so we have to stay organized. Sometimes the monkeys near the temple cause a bit of trouble, so we have to keep an eye on the drying trays. It’s a local operation, nothing too big or complicated. Most of the people in Chas know us because we’ve been in this spot for a good while now. We don't have a big office or a reception desk. You just walk in and find us working on the floor or packing bags for the local shops. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we just keep going. It feels good to see our packets on the shelves in the market nearby. It’s honest work and it keeps everyone fed and busy.
