Up here in Ranchi, things move at their own pace. The Institute Of Science And Management has been part of the landscape for quite some time now. Our address is out in the 829116 area, which isn't right in the middle of the city noise, and that’s a good thing for the students. We’ve got classrooms that have seen plenty of years and a lot of different faces passing through. It’s not one of those modern buildings made of all steel; it’s a place that feels lived in and used. The staff here mostly come from around Jharkhand, so we speak the same language as the families who send their kids to us. We spend a lot of time talking about management and science, but we also talk about the local weather or how the roads are getting fixed. It’s a community as much as it is a school. There’s always someone drinking tea in the staff room or students sitting under the trees between their classes. We don’t try to act like we’re some big international corporation. We’re just a local institute trying to give people a decent start in their careers. Sometimes the internet is slow or a fan starts rattling, but we just fix it and move on. It’s a practical place to learn and work. Everyone knows everyone else, and that makes the days go by a bit easier for all of us here. The walk from the main gate is nice in the morning.
