Bokaro Steel Plant

This part of Bokaro Steel Plant is over in the PPC Building on the second floor. It’s situated in Bokaro Steel City Dbm, and we share the space with the Jharkhand PPC folks. It’s different from the actual production floors because it’s mostly about the paperwork and the planning side of things. We have rows of desks and stacks of folders that seem to never end. Being on the second floor, we get a decent view of the road outside and the people coming and going from the main gate. The building itself is an older one, so the walls have seen a lot of people pass through over the years. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at computer screens. It’s a bit of a maze getting to our specific office if you don't know the layout. We usually have a kettle going for tea in the afternoons when things slow down for a minute. The care of Jharkhand PPC building means we have to be mindful of the shared spaces. It’s a professional environment but it feels lived in, with calendars on the walls and personal mugs on the desks. We deal with the logistics and the numbers that keep the rest of the plant moving. It’s a long day sometimes, especially when the weather is hot and the fans are just moving the air around. We just keep our heads down and get through the pile of work on our desks.
