Mnashavi Garments

We are based out of Unit 4 in the Jalasai Apartment building in Chitralaya. It’s a bit of a trek out here in Palghar, but it’s a quiet place to get work done. Being in an apartment means it doesn’t really feel like a factory. It’s more like a home that’s been taken over by garment work. We have sewing machines set up in the main room and stacks of finished shirts and trousers in the bedroom area. The post office is nearby at Tapp, so we are always heading back and forth to send out packages. It’s a very local operation. Most of the people working here live just a few minutes away. We don’t have any big signs or flashy lights outside. Sometimes the neighbors come by to complain about the noise of the machines, so we try to keep the windows shut during the busiest hours. It gets a bit cramped when we have a big order, and we have to move the dining table just to make space for the ironing board. We drink a lot of tea and talk about the local weather or how the train service is running. It’s just a basic business started by people who wanted to work for themselves. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just trying to get the garments finished and shipped out on time. It feels good to stay busy.
