Balaji Marbles & Granites

People usually find us because we’re right near the Ostwal English Academy School on Chillar Road. Our yard in Betegaon Village is always full of slabs. Some days it’s really dusty when the trucks come in from the main road. My brother and I run the place most days. We’ve got different types of granite sitting out in the sun. It’s a lot of heavy lifting. When someone comes in from Boisar East looking for stuff for their kitchen, they usually walk around the piles for a bit. It’s not a fancy showroom or anything like that. Just some sheds and a lot of stone leaning against each other. Sometimes we’re busy moving things with the crane, and other times we just sit and wait for the next person to pull in. The weather out here in Palghar gets hot, so we try to get the heavy work done early. We started out small and stayed that way, just keeping enough stock so people don't have to go all the way into the city. You get used to the noise of the saws cutting through the blocks. It’s honest work, even if it’s loud and messy most of the time. We know the neighbors and they know us. Most of the time we’re just making sure the pieces aren’t cracked before they go out. That’s about it for what happens here on a normal Tuesday for the staff and the family.
