If you walk down Ponnambalam Street in Square Market, you’ll find us at number 22. Svt Expoters has been operating from this spot for a good bit of time. The market is always crowded, especially in the mornings when everyone is setting up their stalls. We deal with exporting various goods, which means there’s usually a lot of packing tape and cardboard boxes lying around the floor. It isn’t the tidiest place, but we know where everything is. The neighbors on the street are mostly other small businesses, so we all know each other. Sometimes we grab tea from the stall at the corner when things get slow. Our office is just a couple of rooms where we keep the records and handle the shipping documents. It can get a bit hectic when a big shipment is due, and the street is so narrow that the trucks have a hard time getting close. We spend a lot of time on the phone checking on where things are. It’s just regular work, nothing too exciting. We don’t spend much time on the computer unless we have to. Most of what we do involves checking the quality of the items before they go into the crates. We’ve had the same sign outside for years. It’s a bit faded now from the sun, but it still does the job of showing where we are to people passing through.
