Astro Shop

Our little place, Astro Shop, sits right at D.No.1-1-1658. If you are walking around Raksh Pet, we are pretty easy to find because we are right near Prasad Shop. I’ve been coming here every morning for years. I unlock the heavy metal shutters and sweep the front step before the sun gets too high. The street gets quite busy with people heading to work. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves filled with books and various small items. We have a few old wooden drawers that stick when you pull them, but they hold everything we need. Sometimes the local kids run past and make a lot of noise, which makes me look up from my newspaper. It’s a simple life here. My cousin brings me tea from the stall around the corner around eleven o’clock. We sit on the plastic chairs and talk about the news. The shop doesn't have air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that clicks on every rotation. Most people who come in are regulars who live on this street. They know where I keep the registers and the calendars. It isn't a fancy store with bright lights. It’s just a local spot where things move at a slower pace. Even when it rains, we just put out a bucket for the leak near the door and keep going. That is just how it is for us in Raksh Pet. We close up around eight and head home to eat dinner.
