Sujatan Handloom Private Limited

You can find us at House Number 110 on Chaneki Path in Baghabari. It’s a place where we spend most of our waking hours. We are into handloom work, which is something that takes a lot of patience. It’s not like those big machines that just spit out fabric in seconds. Here, you can hear the rhythmic sound of the looms going back and forth. It’s a sound we’ve grown very fond of over the years. We started Sujatan Handloom because we wanted to keep doing what we know. The space isn’t very large, but it’s enough for what we need. We have the looms set up and shelves where we keep the finished pieces and the raw yarn. Sometimes the dust from the cotton gets everywhere, but that’s just part of the job. We don’t really have a fancy showroom. If someone wants to see what we are making, they just come by the house. We spend our days sorting through different colors of thread and making sure the patterns are coming out okay. It is honest work and it keeps our hands busy. The area around Chaneki Path is mostly families, so it feels very grounded. We are just local people trying to make a living with our hands and a bit of wood and string. It’s a slow process but we like it that way.
