Dev Building Material

I usually get to the shop early, around 8:00 or so, before the sun gets too high over Bisalpur Road. Dev Building Material is just a simple place at Shop 31, and we’re right near the State Bank of India, so people often use that as a landmark when they’re looking for us. Pilibhit gets quite dusty, especially with all the cement and bricks we move around here daily. My clothes always have a bit of white powder on them by noon. Most days are spent talking to local builders who need a few bags of this or a truckload of that. It’s not fancy work. We just sit here, drink some tea, and wait for the next delivery to show up. Sometimes the traffic on the road gets loud, especially with the buses going past. It’s a busy spot in the district. We’ve been at this for a while now, and you get to know the faces of the regulars who come by after they finish their business at the bank. The shop is full of heavy stuff, so there’s a lot of lifting and moving things around to make space. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we have a small fan that keeps things moving. We don't really have a big team, just a few of us making sure everything is where it should be. The evenings are usually a bit quieter once the bank closes down. We lock up the shutters and head home, ready to do the same thing tomorrow.
