The Albatross Public School

The Albatross Public School is situated in Suri, which is in the Birbhum district. Our address is simply Suri, Birbhum, 731101. It is a pretty typical public school for this part of West Bengal. We have a mix of students from the town itself and some who come in from the smaller villages nearby. The building is older and has that solid, lived-in feel to it. We have a fair amount of space where the kids can run around during their lunch breaks. You can usually hear the shouting and laughing from quite a distance. We do not spend money on fancy decorations or big signs. Most of our focus goes into the daily classes and making sure we have enough chalk and notebooks for everyone. The weather in Birbhum can be quite dry and dusty, so the school building often looks a bit weathered, but it serves its purpose. We have a staff of local teachers who have been with us for years. They know the families and the history of the town. It is not a place with a lot of high-tech gadgets; it is more about the teachers talking to the students and working through the books together. We have a small library that the older kids use sometimes. It is just a plain, honest school where the local kids come to get their education and prepare for whatever comes next for them in life.
