We have been working out of our place in Aushara for a long time now. The building is located right near the Masjid, so we hear the calls for prayer throughout the day while we are busy packing up spices and food items. It is a quiet enough area in Raina, but things get pretty hectic when the trucks arrive to drop off the raw materials from the local farms. Most of us who work here at Spezia Spice & Food Pvt. Ltd. come from Palashan or the small villages nearby. We do not have a fancy front office or anything like that. It is just a few rooms where we store the big bags of turmeric and peppers and a space for the grinders. The dust from the spices gets into everything, so we spend a lot of time just cleaning the floors and wiping down the tables. The air can get quite sharp when the bags are opened up, but we are used to it by now. We focus on getting the daily orders ready for the shops in the area. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to talk or see what we are doing. The rain makes the road outside a bit of a mess during the wet months, which makes it hard to load the vans without getting muddy. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every single day.
