Saradamayee Rice Mill

Out in Village Rakona, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Our mill is near the P.O. Jharul area, and everyone around here knows where it is. Saradamayee Rice Mill is just a collection of buildings where we process the local crop. It’s a practical setup. We have the milling area, the storage, and a small space where we keep the tools. The floor is concrete and usually covered in a thin layer of husk. You can’t really help it when you are working with so much grain. The weather really dictates our day. If it’s too humid, things take longer to dry. We spend a lot of time watching the sky and moving things around. The workers here have been around for a long time, so we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the village. It’s not like those big factories where nobody talks. Here, we share tea in the morning and talk about the crops or the local news. We don’t have a marketing team or anyone like that. If someone needs rice or wants to use the mill, they just show up or send a message. It is a very simple way of doing business, based on just being there every day and doing what needs to be done. We keep the machines running and hope for a good harvest every year.
