Sangra Ricemill Private Limited

We are out here in Maligram, which is a small spot in Birbhum near the post office. Sangra Ricemill Private Limited has been around for a bit now. If you come down to the village, you’ll see the mill standing there near the Chotosangra side. It gets pretty loud when the machines are going, but that is just how it is with rice. Most of the people working here are from around the village. We start early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. Birbhum gets really hot in the afternoons, so getting a head start helps a lot. The rice comes in from the local fields, and we spend the whole day sorting through it. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting bags and making sure everything is moving right. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait around for it to come back, which can be frustrating when you have a lot of grain to process. There isn’t much to see other than the piles of husks and the trucks that come and go. It’s dusty and the floors are always covered in a bit of grit, but we keep at it. My office is just a small room with a desk and some old chairs. We don't have fancy signs or anything like that. Just the name on the wall.
