Needle Point

We have been running Needle Point for a long time now in Santiniketan. Being here in Ananda’ Sevapalli feels right because it is away from the really noisy parts of Birbhum. Our shop isn't anything special to look at from the outside, just a regular place where we keep the machines and the thread. Most mornings start with a bit of cleaning and then we get to the work. It’s mostly just us and the sound of the needles going up and down all day. The weather gets pretty hot in the summer, so we have a couple of fans that make a lot of noise. People around here know where we are if they need something fixed or made from scratch. We don't have a big fancy sign or anything, just the work we do on the tables. Sometimes the power cuts out and we just sit outside and talk until it comes back on. It is a slow way of doing things but it works for us. We try to keep things organized but there is usually fabric lying around in piles. The address is easy to find once you are in the Sevapalli area. It’s a quiet life mostly, just focusing on what’s right in front of us. We have seen the neighborhood change over the years but our little corner stays about the same. It is just how we like it here.
