Larsen & Toubro Limited

Our team is based at the Bakreswar Thermal Power Plant site in Birbhum. It’s a bit of a journey to get out here, away from the big cities of West Bengal, but this is where the work is. We are part of the CHP BKTPP site, and it’s a massive place. When you walk around, you really feel how small you are compared to the machinery and the towers. The Larsen & Toubro Limited office here is a functional space right in the middle of the plant area. It’s noisy and there’s always a lot of activity, with people in high-vis jackets moving around constantly. We focus on the coal handling part of the plant. It’s gritty work, and you definitely don't wear your best clothes to this office. We spend our days checking on equipment and making sure the supplies are coming in on time. The weather in Birbhum can be quite extreme, really hot in the summer and chilly in the winter, so we just dress for the conditions. We have a small canteen where we get our tea, and that’s where the different crews mingle. There’s no fancy marketing talk here. We just talk about what’s broken, what’s working, and what needs to be done by tomorrow. It’s a very practical, hardworking atmosphere. We take pride in just getting through the daily list of tasks without any drama or unnecessary complications.
