If you take the road toward Shankarpur and then head over to Tarkona, you will find Hara Parbati Rice Mill Pvt. Ltd. sitting right there. It is a bit of a trek if you aren't from this part of the region, but we like it out here. The air is clear, except for maybe the steam from the boilers when we are running at full capacity. We’ve been operating this mill for a good number of years. It’s not a flashy place. The walls have some stains from the rain, and the yard is mostly packed dirt that gets a bit soft when the monsoons hit. We focus on the paddy that comes in from the surrounding farms. Most of our day is spent watching the machines and making sure the hulls are coming off right. It is a loud environment, so we mostly communicate with hand signals when we are near the equipment. We have a small office where we keep the records, but mostly we are out on the floor. It is a practical business. People in Tarkona know us as the place that’s always got a stack of sacks ready to go. We don't do much in the way of advertising. The work just speaks for itself, and we stay busy enough with the local trade. It’s just how things are done in our corner of Shankarpur.
