Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd.

Our office for Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd. is actually located inside the village of Tilpara. We are working out of Sri Anil Kumar Lala’s place, which makes it feel much more like a home than a corporate building. Being in the Suri area of Birbhum means we are surrounded by red soil and a lot of trees. It’s a very different pace of life here. We usually have our morning meetings in the courtyard or the front room. Since we are in a village, everyone knows everyone else’s business, which actually helps when we need to find local workers or get some supplies quickly. The walk to the main road is a bit of a distance, but we manage. We handle all the local operations for the company from this spot. It gets very quiet at night, which is nice after a long day of shouting over the noise of construction machinery. We keep our records in metal cupboards and try to keep the dust off them. It isn’t always successful. Sometimes the power cuts out in the afternoon, so we just sit outside for a bit until it comes back. We don't use a lot of fancy words for what we do. We are just here to build what needs building and make sure the materials are handled right. It’s a small team, and we all know our roles.
