Arihant Rice Mill

Our mill is right on the Main Road in Motitala, not far from the post office. It’s a convenient spot for the trucks to pull in, though it gets a bit tight when two of them try to pass each other in the driveway. Arihant Rice Mill has been a fixture here for a while now. It’s not a huge place, but we manage to process a fair amount of rice through the season. The noise is constant once we start the engines in the morning. We have a few sheds for storage, and they are usually full to the rafters with sacks. You can see the dust dancing in the sunlight that comes through the high windows. Working here means you’re always a bit covered in grey powder. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising. Most people know where we are just by the sound and the smell of the chaff. We deal with the local growers mostly. It’s a direct sort of business. You bring the grain, we mill it, and it goes out to the shops. Sometimes the machinery acts up, and we spend half the day covered in grease trying to get it running again. That’s just part of the job. We keep a pot of water in the corner and a few chairs for when the farmers want to sit and chat for a minute.
