Akhankha Backward Foundation

It started out here at Sukantapally in Biswajit Kundu’s house. Bimal Kundu’s son, Biswajit, let us use the space for our work. It’s a quiet area mostly, though the 743704 pin code covers a lot of ground around here. We spend our days mostly sitting in the main room dealing with paperwork and talking to people who drop by. The walls are a bit plain, and the ceiling fan makes a clicking noise when it's on high speed, but it works for us. We don't have fancy furniture, just some plastic chairs and a wooden table that has seen better days. Usually, there's tea being made in the small kitchen area nearby. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the files pile up on the corner shelf. It’s just how things go when you’re busy with local matters. The neighborhood knows us as the place where Biswajit lives and works. Some days are slow, and we just watch the traffic pass the end of the lane. Other times, the room is full of people talking at once. We didn't want a big office in the city, so being here in this part of Sukantapally feels more natural for what we do. It’s easy for folks to find us since most people know the family name around this street. We just keep at it day by day, nothing too complicated about how we run things here.
