Ambuja Cement

Ambuja Cement has this spot on Manekbai Tata Road over in Bilimora. If you know the area in Gujarat, you know it’s a place where things actually get built. The road outside can get pretty dusty because of all the trucks coming in and out at all hours. We spend a lot of time checking the stock and making sure the bags are stacked right so they don’t tip over. It’s physical work and your clothes usually end up gray by the end of the shift. The sun hits the yard pretty hard in the afternoon, so we take turns staying in the shade when we can. We’ve got a small office space where the records are kept, but most of the action happens outside. Bilimora is a busy town, and being on Manekbai Tata Road means we see a lot of the local traffic. We aren't here to make any big promises, we just supply the cement that people need for their houses and walls. Sometimes the machines are loud and you have to yell to be heard over the noise of the loading process. It’s been this way for a long time. The gates open early and we don’t leave until the last order is sorted. It’s a straightforward business and we don't try to make it sound like more than it is.
