Jindal Rice & Gen. Mills

You can find us out on Gulak Road. The mill is a sturdy old building that has seen plenty of seasons. Inside, the sound of the machinery is constant, a deep thrumming that you feel in your feet more than you hear in your ears. We spend our time dealing with piles of grain and making sure the millstones or the rollers are working like they should. Gulak Road isn't the busiest street, but we get our share of tractors and trucks pulling up to the gate. The air inside always has that dry, dusty smell of husks and processed rice. We have a small area where we keep the ledgers and a couple of old pens that always seem to run out of ink when you need them. It's not a place for someone who likes to keep their hands clean. We're usually covered in a fine layer of white powder by noon. The roof leaks a tiny bit in the far corner when the rain is heavy, but we just move the bags out of the way. We don't do much marketing or anything like that; we just focus on the grain and the machines. Most of the guys have been working here a long time and we know the quirks of the equipment. It is just a regular life at the mill on Gulak Road. We work until the orders are filled and then we close up.
