Dharam Singh runs the show here in Baroti village. We are located in the Bilaspur area, specifically near Gangloh. As the name suggests, we are all about fish trading. Being close to the water means we are always dealing with the local catch. It is a producer company, which in our case means a group of us who handle the buying and selling of fish. The mornings start very early, usually before the sun is even up, because that is when the fish come in. It is a wet and cold job sometimes. Our office in the village is just a small room where we keep the scales and the ledgers. We don't have a big corporate structure. We just know who has the best fish and who wants to buy them. The smell of the market is everywhere, and we are used to it by now. We don't have a marketing strategy or a fancy logo. We just rely on the fact that people need fish and we are here to provide them. It is a tough life being on the move all the time, but it’s what we know. We are just local people in Bilaspur trying to make the trading work for everyone involved in the group. Most of our days are spent at the water or at the market stall.
