Academic Heights Public School

Our school is right in front of the Kanan Zoo in the Pendari area of Bilaspur. It’s a bit of a landmark because of the zoo. On weekends, the road gets very busy with families, but during the week, it’s mostly just us and the animals across the way. You can sometimes hear the birds or other noises from the zoo if the wind is right. The school is a large building with a big gate. We have a lot of open space around us since we are in Sakari. The ground is often dry and hard, typical for this part of Chhattisgarh. Inside, the hallways are wide and the ceilings are high. We have a lot of students, so there’s always a lot of movement. The bells ring loud enough to be heard across the whole campus. We have a kitchen where lunch is prepared, and you can smell the dal cooking around noon. The desks are the old-fashioned kind, made of wood and metal. Some of them have names scratched into the wood from years ago. We don’t worry too much about that. It’s a place where children come to spend their day. We have a library with some dusty shelves and a science lab that we use when we can. It’s a straightforward environment. People know us as the school by the zoo. We’ve been here in Bilaspur for quite some time now. We just do our thing here and keep the routine going.
